Intermittant loss of power 1.6 TDCi

Hi my 2005 C-max 1.6 TDCi suffers from a very intermittant loss of power. Seems to be mainly when going up a hill the power just goes and comes back very quickly but has happened on the flat. Doesn't seem to be any pattern. Happens at any speed and any temp and at any time. Does anyone know of a cause? Its been regularly serviced by Ford and they have never found any fault codes. Has recently become more regular.
Thanks

I'm not sure about it being the EGR
My thoughts to shoot down if relavent
It's not been an oft recurring problem that has been mentioned in respect to the 1.6 TDCI

On the asumption that the control parameters for the EGR (throttle position as a major one) before the loss of power, during it, and after it didn't change then the EGR position should not have changed either

I have the thought it is electrical

hi ,i also have a 1.6tdci ghia 2005 i have also experianced this problem ,on taking it to fords main dealers because nationwide could not find or repair the vault ,having put on dianostic machine found the the fault being a pipe from the turbo allowing contaminated oil backing up onto senor, speaking to fords direct (technical dept) because technician told me that this was a call back ,technical told me that only changed pipe if problem occured within warrrenty period

Thanks for the thoughts just to add some more info. When driving along it seems to be when throttle is constant. It almost feels like the brakes are applied for a split second with a noticeable drop in forward momentum but only lasts a second and back to normal. Also not sure if it is connected to a possible electrical problem but when i turn the steering quickly my headlights brighten quite a bit. When i mentioned this to Ford garage at my last service they said they upgraded my engine management software and this will fix it but it didn't. People with EGR problems mentioned total loss of drive for sometimes a while with real juddering I don't get that just a brief loss. I have never had any warning lights come up at all.
Any help much appreciated before resorting to the garageEdited by: bammers

Lights going brighter is normally a battery / alternator type of fault.

Turning the steering quickly causes the steering angle sensor to get the steering pump to spin faster to apply more power assistance to the steering which would probably require an increase in required engine power which could be the reason for the lights but not necessarily the underlying cause

I've had this on mine, seems to just drop in power for a second, usually whenacceleratingaround the 2000 rev range.Today I was driving home when the dreaded red light came on with 'Engine System Fault' on the display.AA came out and his diagnostic computer brought up:p1101P1757P0101P0299P0562
The gist of these were 'low voltage', 'something to do with airflow', 'something to do with the turbo pressure' and ,something to do with the throttle position being misaligned with what the sensor was recording. (sorry for the vagueness)
Anyway he reset the codes and they cleared, so I went on my way home. It came back on for a minute but cleared again. Need to give Ford a call on Monday.
Recently the exhaust sounds to be blowing/leaking somewhere too if you ask me.
Anyway some of the things mentioned here (turbo/air filter/loss of power/throttle) are consistent with my problem so thought I'd add my 2p worth.

The exhaust can crack above and below the large chamber in the exhaust right next to the engine. I forget the name of it.....if the exhaust was a snake it looks like it's swapped a large pill.
Reset the ECU (disconnect battery for 30mins) and have a go again if you haven't done it already. My bet is dodgy sensor somewhere though.

I have a 2005 1.6 tdci C-Max, had this problem! took it to garage for them to tell me turbo is knackered as is MAF sensor as "pipe" from turbo is kicking up oil from the turbo.... ÂŁ1000 later and its still doing the same thing..... been told there is wear on the top of the engine too and back pressure coming from it! not completely clued up on all this but previously had cam sensor changed too!! found that if i disconnect the MAF sensor the problem disappears completely!!! which you would assume faulty MAF but its brand new! ?? ahhhhhhhhh ive had enough!!...
