Unless you ABSOLUTELY need the auto I personally wouldn't have auto especially some of the CMax ones there have been stories on here about

The combination of Diesel engine and autobox is something that might take a little longer to get used to than you think. If you go this way do try a test drive that includes such as accelerating to join a motorway at the junction. Other than that just try it

Our 54 LX diesel has the front electric mirrors but then it also has the factory option heated screen so somebody added extras at build

sorry
that should be front mirrors which doesn't quite answer your question about the rears
I don't know if the rears were an option that could be added to any spec if so required

I think the real horror stories are about the 1.6 TDCi with the CVT auto. This was only available for about 18 months, and Ford perhaps realised it was a disaster - given what I've read (remembering internet is usually dominated by extreme positive or negative experiences), I'd get a different MPV than have one of these.

Isn't there now a 2L TDCI with a powershift twin-clutch auto? (like the DSG boxes in VWs) This would be recent quite new so I expect there's not much operational info yet.

Not sure on petrol auto options - I think there's a 2L version, and my mate's got a 1.8 auto, but he lives in Netherlands so I don't know if that's ever been sold here.

thanks

honestjohn.co.uk flag the issues but say owners love it when it has been trouble free

I have a 2.0 litre auto c max and I have to say i'm very pleased with it, very smooth and not a slow as i thought it would be, even in manual shift mode the gear changes are not as slow as i expected, they're not as quick as a DSG auto but still not bad.

My wife wants me to try & find her a 2.0 TDCI with powershift to replace her current 2.0 TDCI manual when we do eventually go to exchange it.I` m very intersted in maybe taking a test drive to see how good they really are, especially after all the good press it`s had..

I've got a 2 litre petrol auto on an 06 plate. Ex-motability and less than 6k miles. Goes like stink, v smooth changes up and down, but a bit of a clunk when it comes to rest and re-engages ready for take-off (but this is normal, I understand). 40 mpg at a steady 70 on the motorway with cruise on and only a bit less (36-38) on mixed driving. Lovely car.
