hello all.

My c max has developed this horrible vibration at the rear of the car. It started off as a whine, so i checked bearings and seems fine, thE back tyres were low so had new budgets fitted.

The whine stopped the ride felt smoother.....until i get over 55mph and the vibration starts. It kind of pulses in and out, i had the front tyres changed too, again to budget, i have swapped them around and still the same, could this be a crappy set of tyres.

Also just to mention , balancing has also been checked and its fine.
No play what so ever in bearingw also if you throw the car left or right theres no noise etc.

You don't say what engine you have but I just remembered A 1.8 tdci had similar symptoms and that turned out to be the dual mass flywheel daft as it sounds.

All suspension etc is perfect.
It does it at about 55 mph to 75mph.

Went back to tyre shop today, and all the balancing was re checked.

Not really felt on steering, and definitely feels rear end.

Even bought new discs to eliminate that. Also definitely not DMF.

Only thing left is the tyres see if a friendly breakers yard will let you try a pair of wheels with branded tyres on them for the rear there have been a few cases of cheap tyre problems on c max and focus.
