Hi everyone - On my way to my MOT yesterday my 05 2.0L Diesel C Max lost about 30% of its power while I was accelerating up a step hill. (revs where only about 2500)
Short while latter a whistling noise appeared when you rev to about 1800+ revs. Today, the car started ok but there was a lot of white/grey smoke for about the first 1/2" mile and then cleared. Car is still down on power.
Seems to rev ok when stationary (apart from the whistle noise) but struggles to rev correctly when moving.
Any suggestions on what the likely cause would be would be great.
Do I need Ford to tell me what the problem is before I bring it elsewhere ?
Thanks

Just had a quick look through some previous posts.Have a look at the intercooler pipe,it may have a slight split.

Hi We have the same problem I think. Our 04 C MAX TDCi has been loosing power occasionally over th last few months. It labours OK but when trying to excellerate in 1st & 2nd there is little power. This can last up to 6 mins before it picks up power, we also need to find out what the problem is because its happening more frequently now.

Any help would be appriciated here?

Thanks

Update -
Turned out to be the Turbo. The shaft inside the turbo was bent !
(2005 cmax 2.0 tdci with ONLY 36000 miles - Serviced every 10000 miles
from new)
Bought a turbo off eBay £165 delivered and fitted it myself.
Takes about 4 hours to fit.
