It says in the manual to depress clutch and turn ignition on. What does that do cause it starts without depressing the clutch too? Its a 54 plate 1.8 zetec (125) focus c max.

Two things
1 It means you are not turning any of the gearbox over in cold viscous oil so easier turning
2 If you have left it in gear then it won't jump forward

Oh i see, this post lol. Right so it wont hurt if you forget to depress it every now and again? As my other half forgets!!!

Also extends battery's life...less moving parts during starting...
