Parkers guide

What does this car say about you?

Nothing......... it went back to the dealer after 3 months of returns for failed repairs and nasty letters.

What do your friends / family / neighbours think of the car?

Woukldn't touch one after our experiences.

Would you buy this car again and why?

Not on your nelly. Unless I bought one brand new where I would know its history exactly.

What are you likely to buy next?

Already bought new Zafira 1.8 VVt Design. Not as quick or economical but should be better reliability.

<TD style="WIDTH: 420px" vAlign=top align=left>I have owned this car now for 1 year and have no problems at all.
Good points - fun to drive, nippy for size, equipment level is good,
boot size decent, love the electronic parking brake.
Bad points - tyre wear, clock has to be re-set every couple of month
( if thats a bad point )due to lost couple of mins.
Any more problem then i will up-date.

<TD style="WIDTH: 420px" vAlign=top align=left>Good points - most things

Bad points - 'Rattly' back seats and a bad intermittant engine misfire, but only when the engine has warmed up (e.g long journeys). Took it back to the main dealer who cannot trace the fault despite hooking it up to the computer. The car had it's routine service at the same time, spark plugs changed etc, and now the misfire is worse!

I really don't enjoy driving this car now!

<TD style="WIDTH: 420px" vAlign=top align=left>Bought in April 08 when it was 3 yrs old and only 23k, had to have new Cat fitted as old one fractured due to missing bracket left out when clutch was replaced. Main dealer didn't want to know as car had changed hands and been serviced by another main dealer in Portsmouth since. Cost £800. Jan '09 at 36k, alternator failed, dealer charged £300+. Still have an ongoing problem where the boot opens when starting the car!!

So as you can see the car has many bad points to it aswell.
I see on thiscluba one dimensionil attitude about theford focus c max.

I see people asking for advise from people on if they should buy a ford focus c max or not.

I say if you are going to ask for advise from a site like this then you will not be getting the whole picture on the car and its reliability issues.

This is the ford focus c max fan club. Everyone on here loves the car so will only give you a one dimensionil answer the car is great end off story.

Every carhas reliability issues at some point in time.

I think it is just how oftern these issues come up andin my opinion and going on my experience with my ford focus c max these issues come up alot and for me it hastook the enjoyment out of driving.

Hi Michael,
this made some good reading, but from what I've heard from a lot of people the consensus seems to be in favour of the C-Max both the old and new models.

I would be very surprised if you couldn't find negative reaction for almost any model from any manufacturer, I think the thing is you always get good cars that go on and on and on without any problems, but at the same time you get some cars that seem to spend as much time in the garage as they do being driven by the owners.

I'm sure you'll agree that the C-max is very much down to individuals taste. I mean I'd love them to bring out one based on the ST because I want the flexibilty of the C-Max but with some of the driver dynamics of the Focus ST.

I mean you can get aftermarket kits to uprate and lower the suspension, put bigger wheels on and there are some mods that can be done to the engine, but doing that would reduce its appeal to potential buyers unless they came out of the factory with a much sportier spec.

Any I've had my say so enough said really....

In all the years in car ownership, I have never owned a car that needed just near the £1,000 mark on repairs

While it was the fuel pump and a new injector, which I do not mind seeing the mileage the car has done, it is the headache of having the car sorted out in the first place.
Ford have a very tight control on who can use there own software which means dealer prices.
I only know one place that is independant and can use the software and while not cheap, they are cheaper than the dealer and you know that the job will be done right fisrt time.

The car is a great drive and good forfamilys with small/young but as my children grow, I can see myself getting something slightly bigger, be it a S-Max or even a Skoda Octavia Estate.

As this is a owners club, I hope people see it as a wealth of information and what to look for, good and bad,if the C-Max is the car they want to get.

As for your car Mike, Ford should scrap it and give you a new one

I am not that impressed with this car it's so bl***dy noisy to drive the locks seem to work when they want to and the boot lock no longer works with the central locking and I bought it just before the winter and it takes for ever to warm up the inside of the wind screen freezes,,,I have always tried to stay with Japanese cars my last was an 8 seater Mitsubishi Space Gear not a problem in eleven years and no excessive road noise it was a bit thirsty though 25 to the gallon can't fault the c-max there over 55 to the gallon but for a so called modern car it gets 1 out of ten it may as well be a convertible for all the noise it makes my 1980's cortina was quieter that this thing

clubface and, thus, a slice. To fix this, you have to swing on a flatter plane, and that starts at address. Begin by bending over more during setup ishiner.

the troublke is that people who have had good experiences with there cars dont really post these points on review sites. its is only when you have problems that you jump on to slate a car. as has been said, you can find really negative comments on any car you can think of.
