Well my insurance is up for renewal and with the same company as last year believe it or not the price has gone up to over £400 and thats with over 7 years NCD....
, they want about £130 a year more than the renewal in March 2008.

This is only because I have declared the leather seats, privacy glass, stereo, and parking sensors (all added by the garage as optional extras). according to the insurance company these areall classed as modifications.....

For g0d sakes the car came off the Ford production line with them on so how can they be modifications.....

So instead I'm going to go to Admiral and do a multi car policy and that will save me about £120 a year on the C-Max and £80 on my RS2000.

Forgot to say, I'm almost 39 (May) and its a joint policy with the wife (also 39 later this year)...Edited by: R7BKR

Moved Roy!

As for the insurance, Kerching!
As for "Mods", if they were added by the garage at the time of manufacture, then these are standard fixtures unless they are short of money then I suppose they will charge you more

Mods are aftermarket fixings like lower suspension, head rest DVD systems etc.

One thing I never do is accept the price they send you.
I insure with Direct Line and 99% of the time I redo a quote on line and is always cheaper. Nothing to stop you doing that.

Another way is to obtain new insurance via a cashback site like topcashback.
Not 100% guaranteed but if you ensure your cookies are cleared before starting off then the chance of the transaction being tracked is that much higher.

I have had a phone around and I can get it for under £300, so NO it wasn't a 'Privilege' to be insured by them....

I just need to give Adrian Flux a call and if they can't beat £297 I'll be doing a multi-car policy through Admiral.

Meant to say in the first place, mines a 2006, 2 litre petrol Ghia

Well I've just 'phoned' Admiral and I've managed to get it cheaper.

The C-Max is gonna be £284.75 (with a 12K mile a year limit, protected no claims, guaranteed courtesy car, legal cover and 90 days european cover included.... )

Saves me about £122 on the renewal from 'Privilege'

As for the Escort RS, well thats a 2 litre 16v, and comes in at a mere £239.57 (and that will save me a further £100 on that renewal too)

I'm well pleased now....!!! Yippeeeeeee Edited by: R7BKR

Yup, it's suprising what you can find out there. I don't know whether insurance costs have risen - I got my insurance last November - but I found that Go compare was as good a place as any to start looking and I didn't find anything better, despite a long search. Of course, each quote is individual [mine includes legal protection, and £100 excess charges on the usual items] so it isn't really accurate to simply judge these policies on cost. It is suprising, for example, what a difference 'occupation', post code, and where one parks a car makes to insurance quotes.

I think some of you might cry now, butwith Adrian Flux I`m paying £175.That`s for a 53 plate 2.0TDCI Zetec AND for my 4.0 RangeRover Classic. The cover includes full comp,me & the wife to drive,no claims protect, breakdown cover for both vehicles, hire car if needed + a few other bits.
I thought that this was a good deal.

Thanks MM......

That just made my day... NOT.!!!!!

I just got bored of searching in the end. Adrian Flux would probably have been good for the RS2000 as its "slightly" modified too....

Now thats a great quote.
Take it you told them you were a vicar and that the cars are guarded by the SAS?

Interesting experience with More Than.

Before I bought my 2.0 Auto C-Max I was insured with them (Toyota Avensis 1.8 Auto) and asked for a quote to change cars. They said they would not insure the 2.0 model of the C-Max. Then when I called to cancel they miraculously produced a policy, and for £10 less than the Toyota!

I think you will find that there are different established insurance groups for the different models and probably for the different trim levelsa s well
