I have a 2005 cmax, 2.0 litre petrol, full electric pack. Went to go out this afternoon, having been in and out of the car this morning. Driver door was open but the key fob would not work to lock or unlock. When I go to start it, the info display goes blank and the car won't start. The light in the top of the display (red) flashes quickly. Makes no difference if I lock and unlock the car manually but the alarm goes off if I open the bonnet. Any ideas?

Hi Adele, if you turn the key to position 2 does the dash all light up like its supposed to? these early vehicles had issues with the instrument clusters failing and causing the immobiliser light to flash. these can easily be repaired by a company as they are so expensive from main dealers! I recently repaired one on a focus over the weekend.
i know some times if you give the top of the dash a whack it works for a while, as the fault lies within the clusters CAN connections to the PCB due to dry soldered joints.
