Hi Guys,

The horn seems to have stopped working in my '13 plate, Grand C-Max Titanium X.

I was going to try replacing the fuse first, which the car manual suggests is in the Engine Fuse Box, located under the bonnet, on the passenger side.

Now I've located it, I can't seem to get the cover / lid / outer casing off, to gain access to the fuse box itself. The case seems to move more easily when I lift it from the back (the side nearest the windscreen). Likewise, I've tried prying / pushing in, what looks like a little latch on the front side of the cover, whilst pushing the back of the casing towards me, and upwards, at the same time. Unfortunately, the latch won't release, and I don't want to force it, for fear of snapping it off.

Is there a knack to getting the cover off? Any idea which side the hinge resides on?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance,

Joe

no hinge just clips...go slow and unclick one at a time easy peasy.
Maybe it's never been removed before,so you've got good "teeth" on the clips. As you say the plastic is rubbish cheap stuff ...very fragile...not much give at all.

A bit late now to reply but others may have the same problem. I have a 2012 C Max 2.0 Diesel Auto and I wanted to check a fuse in the engine compartment fuse box. I saw videos on you tube which showed someone easily pulling up the clip on the fuse box on the side nearest the windscreen and removing the cover to access the fuses. Mine would not budge. After numerous attempts I managed it. This is how I did it.

Wearing gardening gloves to protect my fingers ( it was tight!) I grasped the plastic catch nearest the windscreen with two fingers of my left hand, and pulled upwards, whilst at THE SAME TIME pushing downwards and forwards, hard, with the heel of my right hand, on the top of the cover in the middle where the symbol of an open book ( the manual) is imprinted on top of the cover. The catch then came loose, and I could access the fuses.

I hope this is of some help to someone else, as it was not easy to remove the cover without damaging it.
