Hi, I Purchased a Cmax 2 years ago and at the time registered with this forum to learn a little more about the car.

The Cmax has given me good service until last week. I was on holiday with the family and the day before we were due to come home I got into the car to go for a drive but while the engine was turning over it would not pick up. The car had been filled with fuel a few days earlier so diesel was not a problem. up until this point the car had been going well.

Using ford assist the car was transported to our local dealer who has informed me that the fuel pump is gone.

Is it normal for a fuel pump to fail at 66000 mile and without any warning?

I have been quoted £700 for a new pump or £500 for a reconditioned one, is this reasonable?

The car is a 2011 1.6L 115PS titanium.

Any help or advice appreciated

Thanks Redfox. I tried a few specialists, they said it is generally the injectors that go and not the pump but the ford dealer have carried out their "specific tests" and it points to the pump.
Prices differ as well from £450 for a new pump to a similar figure to the dealer.

Have any other Cmax owners had this problem?
