ive got a focus cmax with the 2.0tdci engine which has done 80 thou.

i was giving it a good run down a quiet lane i know and all was going well untill i stopped at a T junction.

when i went to pull off i had loads of lag between changing gears , almost as though the handbrake was on and then released??

Also when accelrating in higher gears (4th,5th and 6th) i can hear what
sounds like air rushing??? is this normal or have i got a boost leak??

It also isnt pulling as much as normal??

Is there an intercooler fitted to the car and if so any ideas where i can find it??

cheers

Hi Steve,
I have a Mondeo with the 2.0 TDCi engine (156k) and had exactly this last year.
I'm pretty sure it was a boost hose to or from the EGR Valve, it needed replacement. I don't have costs to hand or from memory as I had a few things looked at on the same visit.

I'm sure a call to your local garage should be able to supply a quote easy enough. On mine, the hose was about 2-2.5 inch diameter running along the radiator from the centre to the right (the left as you look at it) of the car, then turning toward the back if you want to try and locate it yourself.

Hope this helps.
Steve
