Hi all

I have a new c-max with a flexi-fuel (E85) 1.8 duratec engine. Ford have incorrectly put it in the database as a petrol model instead of petrol/E85 which means the road tax costs £170 when it should be £150. My dealer is trying to resolve the issue but Ford have stated that they have not currently decided whether to class it as a petrol or alternative fuel engine and should have an answer next week.

I have checked the price list from Jan-March08 and it clearly shows this engine as tax band E1 (£150) and the 1.8 standard petrol as band E2 (£170).

Please could anyone with a flexi-fuel model please tell me what taxation class and fuel type is stated on the V5 document as this would be very much appreciated.

Thanks
Ste

It firstly depends on the CO2 figure and secondly how it has been homologated. VCA could in fact be just a little premature in allocating it to the lower class

What a battle, but at last a result!

Had to get the 'EC Certificate of Conformity' via the dealer as the DVLA refused the invoices/receipts as proof and the dealer/Ford was unable to resolvestating that the cmax hadn't yet been clasified?!

Even the certificatehad the fuel type as petrol but I asked the DVLA to check theengineand variant/version codes with ford as theyshould confirm the engine as flexifuel.
The V5c has been ammended and shows the following:-
Taxation class: Alternative fuel car
Type of fuel: Gass Bi-fuel
