Having managed to get the NS door mirror snapped off, I won't say whose fault it was, but it wasn't mine! Anyway at approx £130 for the new part plus fitting I was prepared to try a diy job. So a tube of Superglue and a pack of Araldite, and a few days to let everything cure I have a door mirror functioning as normal. The whole unit really does come apart with screws etc. and isn't a once for all component.

For less than a tenner I have saved the cost of the replacement - £120 better off. I will report later in the year to testify if it was all worthwhile.

That`s good news.A couple of members have had to replace the whole unit as they could not take the original one apart.

given the apparent savings foe some of you from the spare parts site I think I'd look there for a heated drivers mirror if ever this was damaged

Good thought but I have always liked to find out how things work/are put together. And I had the time! That said it wasn't obvious how it came apart.
If this one breaks I will be forced to find a replacement but here's hoping.
