Can anyone advise me please on my CMax 2.0 Auto 2010.
My engine management light is on all the time.
When I set off all is well until the car goes into 2nd gear. The ABS light then comes on and the car won't move into a higher gear than 3rd.
When my speed drops the gear box clunks heavily into second when setting off again, then again won't go higher than 3rd.
I have been to a gearbox specialist who tested the gearbox and abs and said they are both okay.
They said the clunking into 2nd is a build up of pressure to protect the gearbox, and all the figures stacked up on the computer to say the abs was working okay and there were no problems with any of the sensors.
The specialist suspected the problem was electrical, with the engine management system detecting somekind of electrical fault.
I have since taken the car to a specialist auto electrician who wired it up to all his systems and can't find any problems at all and apologised as he can't find anything wrong.
I know its a long shot, but can anyone on here offer any advice or shed a light on it?

You need to read the codes. The car knows something is wrong and may give you a clue. Get yourself a modified ELM327 cable and Forscan. This will scan all modules in the car and give you a better idea of where the fault is. To me, it sounds like an ABS issue. It may be an intermitant fault but you need a code reader to find out.

Is this a 2010 Mk2 with Torque converter auto or a Mk3 with Powersh*t?

Cheers for getting back to me. When it went into the gearbox specialist he gave me a code and I gave it to the auto electrician. He wired it up to his computer and said it doesn't show up any faults, so he couldn't sort it.
I'm baffled by it and four garages so far haven't been able to find anything to fix.
Will a ELM327 be able to tell me anything the computers at the garages couldn't?
