With the price of diesel going through the roof every two days or so, I am already looking at using biodiesel in my C-Max.
I already use bio in my other car and found no real problems at all, though she is a old beast that will run on anything!
With B100 (100% bio) costing just £1.05 per litre, you can see why I'm starting to look at using it. Having located where the fuel filter is so that I can change on the first tank full of bio, I was wondering if anyone else uses it?

Our local Morrison has under gone a refit and noticed today that they have pumps in that will use B30 (70% Dino diesel & 30% rapeseed oil) Bio diesel. But will the price be?

I think the recent report in auto Express about the damage that part of Bio caused to an engine has slowed the change. I didn't read it fully nor can i xouch for how much of a problem it's likely to be

I think you forst need a statement from ford that these diesels are OK to run on it

Somehow I think Ford will not put a statement out like that. Perhaps they are too freindly with oil producers


I too read in Auto Express about the bio, but I think that was when you pour in pure, straight from the bottle veg oil without treating it first. Becomes too thick for the fuel pump and produces glycerine which is not good.

Common Rail diesel cars, such as the C-Max are incredibly complex, and cost thousands to fix if misfueled. It's a false economy to use 100% biodiesel in a common rail engine, as it WILL cause the fuel pump to fail and damage the fuel system. Ford recommend only a 5% biodiesel blend, and then only blends which conform to official standards. If you use a stronger blend you will invalidate your warranty, if you have one.

Older non-common-rail diesel cars can take 100% biodiesel because their fuel systems are simpler, and made to much lower tolerances.

Thanks for that.
I already run my other "car" on Bio because it is older, more of a tractor engine!
But as for the common rail engine, this is all new to me, so a huge learning curve.
More reading required me thinks

I have no idea!
I have tried it, seeing as the dino diesel was empty, but not in the c-max.
But why the same price? Perhaps it makespeople feel less guilty
