Hello All.
Its my first post so be bare with me.
Ok i have a 2004 focus c max 1.8 125 bhp Duratec petrol using a lot of oil.
136,000 on the clock.
There is no constant signs of blue smoke when i drive (get a little on cold start up) But when mate followed me on motorway he said he could not see any blue smoke at all.
Now in an average month (doing around 300 to 500 miles) the engine will go through 2 to 3 ltrs of oil.
There is no oil leaks what so ever (engine is dry as a bone top and bottom)
Now i know the Duratec is known to have an oil burn problem.
I have tried the normal things engine treatment before oil change and so on but no joy.
Now my question is would it be worth fitting new piston ring and oil scrapper rings?

Thanks, Karl.

Same problem before. Completely stucked rings in the grooves of the pistons. Burned sticky oil deposits. Need to overhaul. And check the sealing of the valves...
Does it worth it? Depend on it. My Cmax ate 2 liter/1000km.... For me,did worth it. I had insurance too, so the price was part of the normal...
Ooooh, and check the catalytic converter for melt down and clogging...
