Hi all ( again ), I`ve been thinking with regards to what I mentioned with programming the GEM when a Towbar is fitted, does anyone else have a Towbar fitted, and if so, do you get an illumination on the cluster or a buzzer sounding when indicating?, this is the only reason I can think of for re-programming.

It's normally a 'buzzer' these days, which confirms that the caravan indicator is working.
I connected the car to the caravan over the weekend and everything is working as it should.

Thats p!$$£d on my Bonfire then, just another thought, are either of your Towbar wiring made by Ford? I had a Honda which had both the light in the Cluster and a Buzzer, My mondeo just had a light utilising an uprated flasher relay.

Kev,
To be honest I don't know what wiring was used on mine, but I doubt if it was Ford's own, but it was still probably 'plug and play'.
Are you saying that when towing you don't get any confirmation (bleep or light) that the trailer's indicators are working? If that is the case it's probably the trailer indicators aren't working.

Let the towbar experts do it. If you go to the Witter website you can download the instructions for their electrics to give you an idea: http://www.witter-towbars.co.uk/towbars/vehicle_technical_details.aspx?vtid=204329Tony

Professional installer did mine, beeper fitted for indicators and he put the electric socket just under the bumper out of the way. Good thing is that the towball and swanneck do not interfere with the parking sensors either.
No reprogramming needed at all.
